The state eRecovery programme has been named a finalist of The Innovation in Politics Awards 2026, a European award recognising innovative political solutions.
The programme is a finalist in the Digital Innovation & Governance category, which recognises digital solutions that make public administration more effective, transparent and resilient.
eRecovery is the world's first digital compensation programme for damaged and destroyed housing created and scaled during a full-scale war. For more than 3 years, the programme has enabled people to restore their homes and the state to ensure an accountable and effective reconstruction process.
During the programme, more than 247 thousand families have received compensation totalling more than 132 billion hryvnias.
Reaching the final is international recognition of Ukraine's experience in digital governance and the joint work of public institutions, partners and the large team that keeps the programme running.
The Innovation in Politics Awards were established in 2017 and annually recognise political initiatives in Council of Europe countries that address pressing social challenges.
The final conference and awards ceremony will take place on 30 October 2026 in Cascais, Portugal, which holds the title of European Capital of Democracy this year. The winners in eight categories will be announced at the same time.
The eRecovery service and the Register of Damaged and Destroyed Property are implemented jointly with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. Development of the service and register was made possible through the “Digitalisation for Growth, Integrity and Transparency” project — UK DIGIT, implemented by Eurasia Foundation and funded by UK International Development. The project partner is East Europe Foundation.
