More than 160 representatives of communities and regions who work daily on the problems of internally displaced persons on the ground joined the discussion.
“Minregion is currently developing an updated policy for our fellow citizens who were forced to leave their homes because of the full-scale Russian invasion. It is essential to me that this policy be based exclusively on the voices of people and communities,” emphasised Vitalii Bezghin.
Among the most pressing issues are evacuation, housing, employment, support for vulnerable groups and access to social services.
The participants also discussed the role of IDP councils themselves. They must be more than a platform for discussing problems: they should be full participants in developing decisions that affect the lives of people forced to leave their homes.
Going forward, such meetings between the head of Minregion and representatives of IDP councils will be held regularly. The main objective is to enable prompt responses to problems, joint work on the most urgent issues and thorough preparation of amendments to regulations.
The minister thanked the Stabilization Support Services Charitable Foundation for its joint work and support in organising the meeting with representatives of IDP councils.
