According to Vitalii Bezghin, Minister for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons, mechanisms for supporting frontline communities must evolve with people’s needs. “Today, residents of 233 communities in 10 regions face constant shelling, threats to their lives, destruction and economic difficulties. We must assess the effectiveness of existing support instruments, verify resources and develop new mechanisms. To do so, it is important to determine what forms of support communities lack and which solutions will help save lives, create the necessary conditions and sustain the regions’ economic activity,” Vitalii Bezghin said.
Next steps:
▪️ At the proposal of members of parliament, identify a co-chair of the Coordination Centre
▪️Establish a Verkhovna Rada subcommittee on frontline territories
▪️ Regional military administrations and members of parliament will submit proposals for additional mechanisms to support frontline communities. Minregion will work through them with the relevant ministries
▪️Hold thematic meetings of the Coordination Centre regularly to address issues promptly and coordinate the preparation of solutions.
“I thank colleagues for their substantive proposals and joint work on solutions. It is important that people living and working near the front line feel that the state is there for them,” Vitalii Bezghin emphasised.
