Today, on the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, Ukrainians around the world took part in the National Unity Radio Dictation. This annual tradition has united people around the Ukrainian language for 26 years.
The Ministry and the Barrier-Free Movement project team joined the dictation, along with national and regional accessibility ambassadors, veteran Fedir Samburskyi, adaptive athlete and coach Volodymyr Moisei, Deputy Minister Nataliia Kozlovska and Ministry State Secretary Yurii Severyn.
This year, the Ministry, together with the Barrier-Free Movement team, provided a broadcast of the National Unity Radio Dictation with Ukrainian Sign Language interpretation on the project's YouTube channel. The dictation was interpreted by Ukrainian Sign Language interpreter Natalia Yatsola. More than 860 people joined the live broadcast and used the opportunity to write the dictation in a format accessible to them. The initiative aims to make the annual language tradition more accessible, unite as many Ukrainians as possible around a shared event and draw attention to the importance of Ukrainian Sign Language and building a barrier-free society.
This year's text, “The Letter That Never Ends”, was written by Artur Dron, a writer and veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war. His work reflects on the experience of war, a generation coming of age in times of upheaval and the personal experience of military service; his works have been translated into many languages.
The dictation was read by Ukrainian language and literature teacher Artur Proidakov and civic activist and volunteer Dasha Astafieva.
The broadcast was provided by Ukrainian Radio and Suspilne Kultura.
