16 October 2025
Women and men who are war veterans and have lost their homes, are forced to live temporarily in other regions or receive outpatient rehabilitation assistance can obtain compensation for renting residential premises.
Compensation can be received by women and men who defended Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and:
- have lost their homes or have homes damaged as a result of hostilities;
- are undergoing rehabilitation far from their declared place of residence, more than 15 km away;
- are IDPs who have no housing of their own at all or lived in homes they did not own.
Former police officers and rescuers who have been discharged from service but have not yet received official combatant status or status as persons with a disability resulting from war,
The payment amount depends on the location of the rented housing:

- regional centres: 1.5 subsistence minimums, UAH 4,542
- other settlements: 1 subsistence minimum, UAH 3,028
Thus, if the rental cost exceeds the monetary compensation amount, the veteran pays the additional amount and the full contractual payment independently and subsequently receives compensation in the amounts specified above.
