# The enemy has destroyed your home: how to obtain state assistance

As of early September, according to estimates by the Kyiv School of Economics, at least 15.3 thousand multi-storey buildings and 115.9 thousand private houses had been damaged or destroyed since the start of the full-scale war. The housing stock suffered the greatest damage in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.

Around 1 million citizens have been left without a roof over their heads. The figures are large, yet even they do not convey the full picture, as they are currently approximate and do not yet include the temporarily occupied territories.

People who have lost their homes are entitled to a monthly state living allowance: UAH 2 thousand per adult and UAH 3 thousand per child or person with a disability.

Please note: if you applied for compensation for the relevant losses before 20 May 2022, the allowance is calculated and paid from May of this year. If the application was submitted after the 20th, the allowance is paid from the month in which it was submitted.
