The frontline Sumy region became the first region visited by the government team led by Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi.

During the working visit, a separate meeting was held with heads of the region’s communities, devoted to issues currently determining the resilience of border territories and the safety of their residents.

The focus was on:

- the security situation in communities;

- preparations for the heating season and energy resilience;

- the operation of the healthcare system;

- the implementation of resilience plans;

- support for internally displaced persons and the systematisation of assistance to them;

- the evacuation of people from dangerous areas.

According to Vitalii Bezghin, Minister for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, following the visit the Government is preparing specific decisions to support communities, local self-government and residents of border territories.

The Sumy region faces Russian shelling every day, yet communities continue to work, provide people with essential services and sustain the functioning of their territories. Their needs must therefore be taken directly into account when state decisions are made
